Wedding Boat Charter Fort Lauderdale Proposals & Elopements
Lauderdale Charters offers private boat charters in Fort Lauderdale for proposals, elopements, vow renewals, and anniversary celebrations. Charters run aboard the company’s own yacht fleet, hosting up to 13 guests with a licensed USCG captain and crew who know how to stay out of the moment. Every charter is private to your group, with the route and the timing built around you. |
A wedding boat rental or wedding yacht charter in Fort Lauderdale isn’t about a guest list, a seating chart, or a dance floor. It’s about the moment itself: getting down on one knee as the skyline catches the evening light, saying vows again after twenty years with just the two of you and a captain who knows to stay out of the frame, or eloping somewhere no one else can interrupt. Lauderdale Charters runs private charters out of Fort Lauderdale for exactly that: cruising the Intracoastal or out toward open water, timed to that day’s actual sunset instead of a fixed slot.
Occasions We Host: Proposals/Engagements, Elopements & Vow Renewals
Whether you call it a yacht wedding Fort Lauderdale couples plan around, one of the yachts to rent for weddings you’ve been comparing, or just a proposal on a boat, most requests fall into one of four occasions:
- Proposals and engagement cruises: get down on one knee with the Fort Lauderdale skyline or open water as the backdrop, then celebrate with champagne on the same trip
- Elopements: a private, officiant-led ceremony for two, no guest list, no seating chart
- Vow renewals: mark the occasion the way you said “I do” the first time, just smaller and just the two of you
- Anniversary charters: the kind of romantic boat ride Fort Lauderdale is built for, centered on the two of you, whether it’s year one or year forty
We book all of these as private charters for you and anyone you choose to bring along. Never shared with another group.
What’s Included in an Intimate Charter Ceremony
Every charter includes:
- A licensed USCG captain who runs the boat and knows how to stay out of the moment
- Exclusive use of the vessel: no other charters or passengers aboard
- A route built around what you want it to look like, golden hour, skyline views, or open water, weather permitting
- Coolers and ice on board
Food and beverage is BYOB: bring your own champagne, a small cake, or whatever the occasion calls for. Gratuity for the captain and crew (15 to 20 percent of the charter fee) is customary and not included in the quoted rate.
An officiant and a photographer are not included. Most couples bring their own or book one locally, and we build the charter around whoever you bring aboard.
Request Your Date
Group Size and Privacy
Charters run aboard our charter fleet, hosting up to 13 guests. For a proposal, that’s usually just the two of you and the captain. For an elopement, a vow renewal, or an anniversary charter, it’s room enough for close family or a handful of loved ones, still private, still only your group on board.
This is a couples yacht charter at its core. If you’re picturing fifty guests, a band, and a dance floor, this isn’t the right fit, and we’d rather tell you that now than after you’ve booked. What it’s built for is you two: private, quiet, and uninterrupted.
Planning Your Date
Most couples coordinate a few things before the date: an officiant if you’re eloping or renewing vows (a notary or ordained minister can perform a legally binding ceremony on board), a photographer if you want the moment documented, and anything you’re bringing along, a ring box, a small speaker, or champagne. If a proposal is planned, tell us when you request your date. The captain will be aware, and the timing will be built around that moment. One practical note: keep the ring in a secure pocket, not a bag. Things roll on boats.
We time departures to that day’s actual sunset rather than a fixed slot, and we plan the route to give you the best shot at the golden-hour backdrop. We can’t guarantee weather or an exact sunset moment, but the timing is built around giving you the window for it.
Book several weeks ahead where possible. December through April is Fort Lauderdale’s peak season, and sunset weekend dates go quickly.

Wedding Boat Charter FAQ
Can I get married on a boat in Fort Lauderdale?
You can hold a legally binding elopement or vow renewal ceremony aboard, officiated by a notary or ordained minister you bring along or book locally. We don’t host full wedding parties or receptions. If you’re picturing a small, private ceremony rather than a big wedding day, this is built for exactly that.
How many guests can come on a proposal or elopement charter?
Up to 13 guests. Most proposals are just the couple, and elopements and vow renewals are usually a handful of close family at most.
Do you provide an officiant or photographer?
No. Most couples bring their own or book one locally, and we build the charter around whoever you bring aboard.
How much does a wedding yacht rental cost?
Pricing depends on the vessel, the length of the charter, and the season. Request your date with your guest count and preferred time, and we’ll send back a written rate for that specific trip.
Can you time the charter for sunset?
Yes. Tell us when you request your date if you want the proposal moment, the vows, or the toast to line up with golden hour, and we’ll build the timing around it. We can’t guarantee weather or an exact sunset moment, but we plan the route and departure to give you the best shot at it.
Is the captain licensed?
Yes. Every Lauderdale Charters trip is run by a licensed USCG captain, and the crew stays out of the way when it counts.
How far in advance should we book?
Book several weeks out when possible, especially December through April, Fort Lauderdale’s peak season, when sunset weekend dates fill up fastest.
